Hamilton Beach Juicers - Cheap Juicing Appliances

You may wonder how Hamilton Beach Juicers compare to other pricier juicer machines in terms of durability and juice quality. Juice extractors by Hamilton Beach are sold in almost every department store and models include centrifugal units with wide feed tube as well as manual commercial citrus presses.

Juicer experts say that Hamilton beach juicers are less durable and the juice quality is not as good as juice made with some of the more expensive juicing machines (L'equip, Breville, Omega). Many users are however satisfied with their Hamilton Beach juice extractor and gave good ratings on online retail sites.

Let's try and find out who's right.

Common Features of Hamilton Beach Juicers, Main Models for Residential Use

The two Hamilton Beach HealthSmart Juicer models are one of the lowest priced electric juicers available on the market. These juice extractors make juicing available for everyone.

Hamilton Beach HealthSmart Juicer, Model Series 67800

  • This juicing machine is run by a 350-Watt motor providing substantial centrifugal force to squeeze out juice from a wide range of produce: citrus fruits, apples, pears, carrots, celery, beets, tomato etc.

  • The feed chute measures 2.25" x 1.12" which could have been made wider to fit whole apples or larger pieces more easily. (e.g. the L'Equip Mini's feed tube measures 2.75" x 1.5"). Baby carrots, smaller apples fit in

  • The downside of the lower price can be first seen in the blade-mesh screen construction which is made of stainless steel and are fitted on to a plastic base.

  • The blade and mesh screen of Hamilton Beach juicers are smaller than that of other more expensive makes (e.g. the L'equip Mini juicer's blade measures 3.5" in diameter, while the blade size of the Hamilton Beach HealthSmart juicer is 2.5"). This results in lower juice volume. Another weakness of Hamilton beach juice extractor is that the pores in the strainer are larger allowing more fiber to get into the juice.

  • Other parts of the Hamilton Beach HealthSmart juicer models are made of plastic. The lid is transparent plastic that attaches to the base through 2 integrated latch arms on the sides.

  • The removable pulp bin attaches smoothly to the back of the unit and it is large enough (40 oz., for comparison the L'equip Mini juicer has a 56 oz. pulp container) to hold quite a lot of pulp.

  • There's an On/Off switch on the side of the base.

  • Noise: it's bit louder than other juicers but the noise level is still tolerable considering other benefits.

  • Cleaning of Hamilton Beach juicers is the same as other similar juicer machines (Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer, Juiceman Juicers) - wash the removable parts in warm, soapy water immediately after juicing, to prevent pulp from drying on the surfaces and stain the white plastic. Use a kitchen brush for cleaning the mesh screen. Rinse and dry all parts before reassembling the unit.

  • Price of the Hamilton Beach HealthSmart Juicer, Model 67800: $25-41 - it is really the cheapest electric juicer.

  • Warranty:

Pros: fairly powerful, compact built, easy to use and clean, low price.

Cons: small cutter and strainer, small feed tube, you need to cut almost everything into smaller pieces, leaves some juice in the pulp, stains easily, wear and tear will show within a short time.

Hamilton Beach HealthSmart Juicer with Two Speed Settings, Model 67900

The other model in the Hamilton Beach HealthSmart line is the Model 67900 which is also operated by a 350-Watt motor but 2 speed levels can be set. The blade and strainer are made of stainless steel, while the rest of the appliance is white plastic except the lid and pulp container which are see-through plastic.

This unit has the same pros and cons as its sister discussed above:

- low price,

- decent quality,

- simple to use and clean

- space-saving size,

- light weight

- small feed tube,

- stains easily even after a couple of times of use.

All in all the Hamilton Beach HealthSmart machines are pretty good starter juicers that many people can afford.

Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juicers, Models 67600 & 67650 (Pro)

The Wide Feed Tube juice extractors by Hamilton Beach are powered by 800-Watt motor. The chute at the lid is larger than that of the HealthSmart models' so it cuts down preparation time by being able to accommodate smaller apples and carrot sticks in whole.

The design and construction resembles very much to the HealthSmart models:

- stainless steel blade and mesh screen,

- plastic base and

- transparent lid and pulp bin.

Two locking arms with safety switch hold down the lid. The juicer will start only if the latches are attached securely.

Includes a plastic plunger and a cleaning brush for cleaning the strainer basket. Putting together the parts takes about a couple of minutes, and after plugging the unit in, you can start juicing by pressing the On/Off switch on the side of the machine. When you finished juicing, unplug the unit and take it apart (takes again only a couple of minutes) for a immediate cleaning.

Don't postpone cleaning up because it will only mean more work: the pulp remains will stick to the inside of the bowl and the strainer holes. Soak the parts in warm soapy water for about 10 minutes, use the brush for washing the strainer, then rinse everything and let them dry before reassembling the juicer.

Price of the Hamilton Beach 67600 Juicer: cc. $65 - $90.

What's the Difference Between Models 67600 and 67650 Pro?

The only feature the Model 67650 Pro differs in is that it has metal latch arms and comes with a plastic juice cup (besides the cleaning brush). It has the same 800-Watt (1.1 horsepower) motor than the Model 67600.
